The Langport Transport Group committee met last night to discuss a number of important developments as we continue to build momentum behind our campaign.
A key focus was the creation of a new constituency structure for the group as we prepare to formalise our organisation, seek charitable status, open up membership opportunities, and grow our committee and supporter base.
We also began planning for our Annual Conference, which this year will be held in Somerton. Discussions centred on potential guest speakers, supporters, and influential voices who can help champion the campaign. The conference will also feature an afternoon public session, giving local residents and stakeholders the opportunity to hear updates and contribute their views.
The committee reviewed correspondence from Somerset Council following questions raised by our Chair, Phil Edge. At this stage, we are seeking strategic support rather than financial backing, and we will be returning to the Council to clarify and strengthen its commitment to supporting the project and helping deliver the long-term vision for improved rail connectivity in the area.
There is plenty happening behind the scenes, and we look forward to sharing further updates as the campaign continues to move forward.
